For were you not to say this, the question raised by R. Yohanan could have been answered from the Mishnah: She may sell [her deceased husband’s estate] for her maintenance out of court but she should write, “I have sold these for maintenance”? Rather, we cannot learn anything from the Mishnah, for it was only giving her advice, so too here he was only giving her advice.
